Golden Kings squeak past Sendai in series splitDate Posted: 2011-01-21 The Okinawa squad lost by three points, 78-75, on Saturday, but rallied in overtime to win a squeaker, 98-96, on Sunday on the strngth of Anthony McHenry and Carlos Dixon scoring efforts of 18 points apiece. Playing in front of the home fans in Ginowan, the Golden Kings battled hard in the two games decided by a mere five points. Head coach Dai Oketani says "everyone played hard, and all players went for the hoop and attacked." Sendai's head coach, Honoo Hamaguchi, conceded "they were very tough matches," promising "we expect to fight well next series, because Okinawa will be on our home court. The weekend split moves the Golden Kings to 15-11 for the season. Sendai is now 15-9. |
