Okinawa City showcases products at Industrial FairDate Posted: 2011-01-14 The 34th annual Industrial Fair takes place at Okinawa Prefecture Comprehensive Sports Park at Hiyene in Okinawa City, operating 10 a.m. = 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. = 6 p.m. Sunday. Exhibits and displays will showcase products and crafts made by Okinawa City businesses and residents, including agricultural, fishery and forestry goods, the latest fashions, Okinawan awamori, pottery, handicrafts, musical products and goods, and environmentally green products. The event hall will also have traditional music and dance, along with food and drinks. The fair's intent is to promote Okinawa City citizens' lives and livelihoods, explaining the products made and how they came to be. There will also be experts from agricultural industries who will show how to plant vegetables, make flowers, and care for green trees. The entertainment will feature a Flamenco dance show, acoustic music and a live fashion show. Organizers anticipate thousands to turn out for the industrial fair, both for the food and music as well as the products themselves. The accent is on locally produced and manufactured goods. Getting There From Camp Foster, exit Legion Gate and go straight through Kitanakagusuku Village and down the hill toward Awase. Continue on the same road about one-half kilometer past the intersection with Route 329, and look for parking on the left. From Kadena Air Base, exit Gate 2 and continue to Takahara intersection. Turn right on Route 329 and continue until you see the entrance gate to Okinawa Prefecture Comprehensive Sports Park on the left. |
