It's a dog's life... in TomigusukuDate Posted: 2011-01-14 Yoza began his quest for a sort of dog heaven on earth by researching mainland Japan, and then more research on Okianwa. Guess what? He found Okinawa has many kind dogs, and many dogs that like to play, and even heard that Okinawan dogs say "I want to play and run. It would be nice of someone would take me to a dog run in Okinawa." That was enough for Yoza. He decided to create the very special atmosphere dogs would love, and on July 20th, 2008, he opened Dog run Okinawa. Now, in Tomigusuku City, dogs wait in line for a chance at the Dog run. Small size dogs have a 660 square meters facility, while larger size dogs have a comparably larger play zone, 990 square meters. And then there's the pet hotel, the only one of its kind in Okinawa. Some pet places put the animals in cages, leading dogs to be stressed. At Dog Run... no way! All dogs live on the outdoor playground, actively awaiting the master's return. Dog Run wasn't kidding about the swimming pool, either. There's a 3 x 8-meter swim pool, and also a grooming room. Dog Run is open until 9 p.m. in the evenings with lighting. Members pay エ1,500 per day for the first dog, and エ750 for a second. The Dog Run is available all day for the membership fee of エ500, while the swimming pool visitor fee for all kind of dogs is エ800. The pool is open from May through October. Yoza stresses that all visiting pets must be vaccinated, and certificates must be presented as a proof. There's also parking for the humans. All dogs are welcome, but prospective members at Dog Run must bring the pet's vaccination papers. Yoza says his goal's to help every dog avoid sadness at Dog Run. His only drawback for the moment? He has no English speaking staff... so far. |
