Golden Kings, Hannaryz, split series on home court

Date Posted: 2011-01-07

David Palmer led the Ryukyu Golden Kings with 22 points Sunday as Okinawa rolled past the visiting Kyoto Hannaryz, 88-79.

Jeff Newton tallied 14 points and hauled in 10 rebounds in the victory, while Shigeyuki Kinjo dumped in 13 and Anthony McHenry finished with 12. Tsubasa Yonamine was an Okinawa triple threat, scoring eight points, nine rebounds and had nine assists.

Monday's second game of the series went Kyoto's way as they evened their record at 12-12, beating Okinawa 82-76. "Our drive wasn't enough in the first half," said Okinawa head coach Dai Oketani. "although we won Sunday, and our fans were excited, we didn't seem to have the right exercise in the second half to get a grip."

The series split puts the Golden Kings at 14-10.
