First baby of 2011 at Navy Hospital is a girl

Ava Marie Lujan-Espinosa goes into the record books as the first baby born in 2011 at the U.S. Naval Hospital Okinawa.

The 5 lb. 9 oz. Ava, who measured 20" at birth, was born at 5:43 a.m. January 1st to Brittaney Lee Lujan-Espinosa and Specialist Rufo Joseph Lujan-Espinosa. Ava's mother, Brittaney Lee, is a native of Suffolk, Virginia. The baby's father, Specialist Rufo Joseph Lujan-Espinosa of Taiofofo, Guam, is assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 10th Support Group, Torii Station.

The newborn Ava joins brothers Jayden, 4, and sister Cecelia, 2, in the Lujan-Espinosa household. Both mom and baby are reported doing fine.
