Music and food for a good cause: Obbligato hosts charity luncheon

Date Posted: 2010-12-23

The idea’s unique: Eat and contribute! That’s what Mexican Restaurant Obbligato and LLC Tortilla Factory are doing December 29th with the 6th annual Charity Lunch.

The annual event draws the restaurant’s staff, volunteers, and the community for a charitable cause, “a mix with an area project” as director Mark Esparza Edward explains it. Guests eat free, but then contribute to a collection box set up at the restaurant. As the guests eat free, the staff’s working free, too, and many of the foods are donated from company suppliers.

Chika Takami will work as a guest staff member, and Kachimba 1551 salsa band will provide the musical background as customers enjoy their lunches. This year’s charity is a public service corporation, Okinawa Victim Support YUI Center, which engages in support activities for crime victims. The non-governmental support group provides assistance to not only crime victims, but also to victims of traffic accidents and their families, and to those with other handicaps.

The luncheon runs 10 a.m. ~ 2 p.m. at Obbligato Chatan, at 3-1-10 Mihama, Chatan Town. Reservations and information are available at (098) 926-1888.
