Renowned trumpetist staging Fanfare Jazz Night

Frank Gordonís been belting out the tunes on his trumpet for decades, and is preparing to do it again Saturday night at the Garaman Hall in the Ginoza Village Cultural Center, bringing with him a band comprised of Japanís top jazz musicians.

The Frank Gordon Jazz Night 2010 Fanfare is his way of bringing the worldís best jazz to Okinawa, inviting six of the nationís best to share the stage with him. Itís a new group since he performed at Koza Music Town three years ago. A 31-year-old American living in Tokyo, Raymond McMorrin, provides the harmony on tenor saxophone for the evening. He came to Okinawa a few months ago, introducing his east coast style jazz first with Frank Gordon, and a night later at a venue near Kokusai Street.

This yearís band, in addition to McMorrin, includes Kosuke Johma on Guitar, Mitsuhiro Wada on trombone, Isao Nishikawa on Bass, Satoru Ajimine on Piano and Dylan Savage on drums.

Doors open at Garaman Hall at 6 p.m. Saturday, with the concert getting under way at 7 p.m. Advance adult tickets are •2,500 or •3,000 at the door, while student advance tickets are •1,500 or •2,000 at the door. Ticket Reservations are at the Jazz Night Ticket Center, or at garaman@ginoza-bunka.jp.
