Unhappy patient stabs doctor in stomach in hospital

Date Posted: 2002-12-07

A 60-year-old man stabbed a doctor in stomach with a knife in Chubu Tokushukai Hospital, Monday. The hospital staff subdued and held the man until police arrived. The man was arrested. The doctor suffered a three-centimeter deep stab wound in his stomach, and was treated immediately by other doctors in the hospital. His injury does not require him to be hospitalized.

According to police investigation, the doctor has treated the attacker for diabetes for some time but his condition has not improved. The doctor finally sent him to see a specialist at another hospital, but that hospital told him to go back to Chubu Tokushukai, and that apparently made him upset. "I thought the doctor was at fault for failing to cure my illness," he was quoted as telling investigators.
