1,000th baby born at U.S. Naval Hospital Okinawa

Derick Lyndale Cheeks Jr.ís name will go in the record books for his actions at 3:30 p.m. November 12th.

The healthy baby boy was born at the U.S. Naval Hospital Okinawa, the 1,000th baby to do so this year. The youngster weighed in at 7 lb. 9 oz., measuring 19.75Ē. His parents are Julie Cheeks of Pleasantview, New Jersey, and Marine Staff Sergeant Derick Cheeks, of Memphis, Tennenssee, attached to the Combat Logistics Regimant 37, 3rd Marine Logistics Group.

The Navy hospitalís labor and Delivery delivers an average of 100 babies a month, and serves the entire Dod-affiliated community in Okinawa. It also serves as the Western pacific area referral center for specialized maternal-fetal medical care and neonatal intensive care.
