Two bullets fired near Naha City game center

Date Posted: 2010-11-11

A drive-by shooting attack on a building next to a Naha City game center, the Riverside Monaco, is believed to have been carried out by a man on a motorcycle.

Police say two bullets believed to be from a .38 caliber handgun were retrieved from the Sunshine Tsubogawa Shop, about 100 meters from the game center. They’d slammed into glass windows of the building about 4 a.m. Monday, leaving 2-centimeter diameter holes. Video camera surveillance footage shows a motorcycle acting in a suspicious manner at the building at the time of the shootings.

Guards say alarms triggered an alert, leading them to check the Sunshine Tsubogawa building and the Riverside Monaco in Asahi town, Naha City.

A similar shooting took place at the glass store entrance to Omega Takahara Shop in the Takahara district of Okinawa City in May 2004, and a similar shooting at E-space Makiminato Shop six months later. A third incident at J-Park Dino in Ohmi, Uruma City, occurred in September 2005. Those cases remain unsolved.
