New hideaway Sand Bar new hangout in Sunabe

Date Posted: 2010-11-11

It’s out of the way, a perfect place for intimate or quiet moments in a cozy atmosphere, but still close enough to easily get to.

The Sand Bar, with its sophisticated interior with reddish, clayish walls with dim illumination, opened last weekend in the less-crowded area of Chatan. Staffed with English-speaking servers and accepting U.S. currency as well as Japanese yen, the Sand Bar features an extensive selection of beverages, including beers, awamori, sake, whiskeys, wines, cocktails, shots and… well… lots more.

The new ‘best hangout’ is located in Sunabe, Chatan, off highway 58 and near the seawall. The Sand Bar is open daily 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. at 11-14 Minato. Credit cards are not accepted. To reach Sand Bar, travel south from Kadena Air Base on Highway 58 (or north from southern Camps Kinser, Foster and Lester, until you see the Toyo Hanten Chinese restaurant on the west side of the highway. Turn off Highway 58 toward the seawall, entering the first road on the right after passing the second traffic light. The Sand Bar is two blocks down, on the left.
