Ali Baba serves Curries to every taste

Date Posted: 2010-11-11

Thirty-five varieties of curries are on the menu at Ali Baba in Mihama’s Carnival Park in Chatan, with a bountiful number of naans and other Indian delicacies as the restaurant prepares for its first anniversary celebration next month.

Mohammed, Ali Baba’s owner, says he’s excited about the first year’s operations, and the way Okinawa’s discovered his popular menu, which features all halal meats. It’s the curries, though, that are the centerpiece of the menu, with naan getting plenty of attention, too.

Tandoor sets at ¥1,250, chicken biryani for ¥850, Reshimi kabab for ¥1,000 and a two-piece Samosa plate for only ¥600 are tops on his popularity list, with course menus, including a couple’s course with three curries, shishkabab, tandoor chicken, rice, salad, naan and a snack for ¥2,800 also available. Ali Baba also has kids meals.

A lunch menu at Ali Baba for ¥950 features a choice of the day’s mutton, chicken, dall or vegetable curry in a meal that includes salad and a soft drink, plus a free second helping of rice and naan.

Ali Baba, an Indian restaurant chain with 10 branches in Tokyo, is located on the second floor of the Carnival Park building with the ferris wheel in Mihama. It’s open Monday through Friday 11 a.m. ~ 3 p.m. for lunch, and 5 p.m. ~ 11 p.m. for dinner. Ali Baba is open Saturdays, Sundays and holidays 11 a.m. ~ 11 p.m.

Ali Baba has an English menu, and many of the staff speak English. Take out meals are available. Reservations are available at (098) 936-5223.
