Accused pachinko hall robber’s attorneys want case dropped

Date Posted: 2010-10-14

Frustrated with speed and direction in the courts, lawyers for a local man accused of robbery resulting in bodily injury at a Haebaru Town pachinko parlor are appealing to the public for support.

Takeshi Akamine was indicted in connection with the April 2009 case at the Miyahira area pachinko hall. He’s denied the charges, and his attorneys say “this case is false, and he in innocent.” The attorneys told a Community Hall meeting in Haebaru Town this week that “we had experts made analysis of evidence from the witnesses, and concluded he’s not guilty and it is wrong to take him to court.”

Attorneys are asking that the 51-year-old Akamine be set free and charges dropped. They have told the court surveillance cameras show the “clothes of the culprit are totally different” than their client’s. They said Akamine doesn’t even own red shirts that the surveillance video shows the robber wearing, and claim saliva found on a red shirt involved in the crime was purposely put on the clothes by investigators.
