Kadena lifts curfew, alcohol restrictionsDate Posted: 2010-10-07 Brig. Gen. Kenneth Wilsbach levied the restrictions on all active duty Air Force personnel on September 28th in the wake of 11 driving while under the influence of alcohol incidents in a single month, calling the bans a “period of reflection.” It restricted airmen to base between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m., and stopped alcohol consumption except at home. Kadena Air Base clubs and restaurants stopped serving alcohol to all customers. The lifting of restrictions was announced on the base’s social media Facebook page. The curfew and drinking ban were ended at 9 a.m. Monday by Wilsbach, who said on the Facebook site “I appreciate everyone who took advantage of this time to consider the standards we are expected to live by, and the impact that failure to meet those4 standards can have on our ability to conduct military operations here on Okinawa.” |
