Tasty Blue Seal ice cream treats now at Depot Island

Date Posted: 2010-09-09

Thereís nothing like a crepe with ice, fruit and more than 20 kinds of smoothies, or an original ice cream made with tapioca, but Blue Seal Ice Creamís new location in the Depot Island D Building has it all.

The original tapioca ice cream from Blue Seal is something special, with an interesting texture and a feeling similar to a rice cake. As part of the Blue Seal grand opening through September 30th, the new ice cream parlor is offering a •50 discount on individual crepes or tapioca servings. Itís the perfect time for ice cream, says the Blue Seal general manager at the Depot Island store. Sweets are Okinawan, and Blue Seal treats are as Okinawan as any dessert can get.

Born in America and raised in Okinawa, Foremost Blue Seal came to Okinawa 61 years ago, producing ice cream the same way itís made in America, while seeking out the most unique, intriguing flavors Okinawans would love to eat. Through the years, Blue Seal has become synonymous with the ice cream of Okinawa. In addition to traditional flavors, the company produces many varieties of ice cream using purple sweet potatoes, sugar cane, and other special prefectural goods as flavor.

The Blue Seal Ice Cream Shoppe is located on the second floor of Depot Islandís D Building. Itís open 11 a.m. ~ 11 p.m., 365 days a year. The Blue Seal balconyís ideal for enjoying a relaxing change of pace, scenery and mood, and the sunset changes things more radically, offering a view of Mihamaís lit-up ferris wheel.
