ANA looking for investors, eager to expand operations

Date Posted: 2010-08-12

All Nippon Airways is looking around for Japanese firms to invest in a budget airline that would be operated by ANA but carry a different name brand.

ANA officials say they’re appealing to travel agencies and hotel operators to invest, wanting to capitalize the new air carrier at more than ¥50 billion. Foreign investors, ANA says, will be limited to less than 30% investment by Japanese law. ANA says it wants to get the budget carrier into the air next year to offer cheaper fares than its competitors.

The airline wants to hold a 50% stake in the new discount airline, which will operate domestic and regional international flights from Kansai International Airport using small aircraft.
