New salon specializes in hair removal

Date Posted: 2010-08-12

Shoko Kina believes “hair removal treatment should be customized for each individual,” and is applying that philosophy to her new salon, Me Love.

The newly-open salon is designed to Shoko’s specifications, with a spacious waiting room and a children’s play space where youngsters can wait while mom’s having a treatment. She’s built it with a stylish waiting room ala café, with four treatment rooms for women and another two for male clients. Shoko, an Okinawa native, spent nine years in Tokyo learning the esthetic skills, followed by three years study in England to acquire her Confederation of International Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology certificate.

Shoko took her studies as far as earning a CIBTAC; she went beyond facial and body treatment skills, and also studied anatomy theology. The training, she says, taught her “everyone has different skin color and levels of hair thickness or thinness.” That means her hair removal treatments and IPL equipment “should be adjusted on each customer’s skin and hair level, requiring professional skill for the right adjustment to get the most effective results.” Shoko says that based on the results of a patch test, she can adjust the IPL equipment power to match each individual skin and hair type to reach optimal results.

Me Love is offering free counseling, and patch tests are available. Shoko welcomes opportunities to answer potential clients questions.

She’s offering several grand opening campaign specials and discounts until Sept. 9th, including Bikini Standard hair removal, four treatments, for ¥9,800 instead of ¥16,000, and the Bikini Brazilian four treatments for ¥32,000 instead of ¥48,000. A set of four arm pit treatments is only ¥3,000 instead of the standard ¥6,000. Other services are available, says Shoko, adding that she also has gift certificates available.

The Me Love salon is open Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., with last customer entry at 6:30 p.m. She accepts Japanese yen, as well as Visa, MasterCard and American Express. Reservations may be made at (098) 926-5523. Me Love is located on Route 23 about 200m from the Starbucks Coffee House going towards KAB gate 5, on the left.
