Futenma MCAS opens its doors for Flightline FairDate Posted: 2010-08-05 ![]() ![]() ![]() The festival runs Saturday 3 p.m. – 10 p.m., and Sunday 1 p.m. – 10 p.m. Ryujin Densetsu with Dragon, ShiShi Dog and Eisa entertain at 6 p.m. Saturday, followed by variety band Brown Inc. at 7 p.m. and RO$ at 8 p.m. Throughout the Flightline Fair area there’ll be vendors cooking up yakitori, burgers, pizza and sweets. An Open Bench Press Competition takes place Saturday afternoon, starting at 4 p.m. RO4 appears Sunday evening with special guests Stephanie West-Helm, Mina Leon, Chard, Risa and T.A.N.K., following a day that has Eisa with Crown at 5 p.m., the traditional hot dog eating contest at 5:30 p.m. and evening entertainment by Brown Inc., Hatena Dou and U-Dou & Platy. In past years, Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest competitors have downed a dozen hot dogs in 12 minutes. There will be amusement rides and game booths for the kids, plus Kiddie Land featuring a brand new Sun Slide guaranteed to be a big hit. Festival-goers interested in military aircraft will get their fill of props and wings. Static displays showcasing the best in Marine Corps aviation are slated to include both fixed wing and rotary aircraft. The festival hits its crescendo Sunday at 9:45 p.m. with a fireworks display. The Futenma Flightline Fair is open to all SOFA status individuals and local nationals. Free shuttle buses will provide transportation to and from designated parking lots on the base. No pets, outside alcohol, bottles or coolers are allowed. The fair, sponsored in part by Miller, and MCCS encourages responsible drinking, with unten daiko and taxi services available. |
