Cops send GI hit-and-run case to prosecutors

A 26-year-old U.S. Navy petty officer is expected to face criminal charges stemming from a hit-and-run accident as the Nago City Police have referred the case to prosecutors.

Petty officer second class Wendy Foster is accused of a March 16th hit-and-run incident in which she rear-ended a car carrying a father and his two children in Nago Cityís Henoko area. Police say she struck crashed into the car, injuring the man and his kids, then fled the scene. She was later apprehended and admitted to the accident.

Police say Foster had been drinking, with her blood alcohol level roughly four times the legal limit. They say Foster had apparently had some personal circumstances and began drinking in her room earlier in the evening. She then took a U.S. Navy vehicle and drove off base. Police have referred the case to the Naha District Prosecutorís Office for action.
