Tanning salon beats sun rays for a safe, even tan

Date Posted: 2010-07-22

It sounds odd, at first, to think about going to a salon to get a tan when Okinawa has plenty of sunshine, but Tanning Salon Samurai says its system is superior to tanning by natural sunlight, and is safer, too.

Tanning Salon Samurai’s manager explains that Okinawa’s summer sun beams down ultra violet rays that are too strong for skin, and can cause dry skin and other skin problems. A tanning machine, on the other hand, allows safe, speedy tanning without the danger of damaging skin.

The key to a good tan is the machine, and Tanning Salon Samurai’s is one designed by the same people who design Porsche sports cars. The sleek machine is made in Germany, and is one of a kind on Okinawa. The salon has both tanning beds where the customer lays down, and the kind that permits the patron to stand up throughout the session. Only a few visits to the tanning salon produces the same tanning results as a week on the beach, but in a safe, comfortable manner.

To introduce Okinawa to the new machines, Tanning Salon Samurai is offering several special promotions. Now, any customer bringing the Samurai ad from Japan Update receives a 50% discount on a tanning session. The next promotion is even better; anyone bringing two friends along gets a 10% discount for each, while bringing three friends nets a 20% discount for each. A customer bringing 11 friends qualifies every one of them—plus the customer him or herself—for a first treatment free of charge.

Tanning Salon Samurai is located in Mihama American Village, in a three-story building across from JUSCO. There’s parking on the first level, as well as in the JUSCO free parking area. The salon’s on the second and third floors. Quick nails service is also available on the 2nd floor. The salon is open 1 p.m. to midnight Monday, Tuesday, Thursdays and Fridays, and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Tanning Salon Samurai is closed on Wednesdays. Reservations appointments are available at (098) 989-4543.
