The Saturday-Sunday festival opens Saturday afternoon with lectures on “We are the people of Earth” at 1:30 p.m., and eco-talk and an eco-movie, Kizuki, starting at 2:30 p.m. in the Okinawa Convention Center. The cleaning activities begin at 8:30 a.m., followed at 10 a.m. with the Yacht Race Best Amenity Cup at Ginowan Marina. At the same time, organizers have scheduled a beach run and swim at Tropical Beach beginning at 10:30 a.m.

Festivities continue at noon with a Marching Band and Econcert and raffle at the Okinawa Convention Center. The Nishihara High School marching band and the Theatrical company Deigoza with Sachiko Nakada and members, Matsue and Mayumi Furugen, Jazz Live and Big Bell go on stage and doors close at 1 p.m.

Okinawa soba and mineral water will be available for ¥80 (¥50 if you bring your own bowl), and the Eco Carnival Executive Committee will be raffling numerous prizes, with a pair of Tokyo Disneyland vacation tickets as first prize, a Natural Hot Spring Resort Fukahori one-night stay for two as second prize, and a 32” digital television as third prize.
