Jazz & Salsa to hit Torii Beach Friday, Saturday

Date Posted: 2010-06-24

Jazz and salsa music, fireworks and spectacular sunset views are the order of the evening Friday and Saturday as Torii Beach hosts the annual Jazz & Salsa Festival.

The festivities run 5 p.m. – 11 p.m. each evening, with Kachinba 1551taking to the stage Friday evening for a salsa concert, while the Okinawa Jazz Association provides the music Saturday evening. Sponsored by Army Morale, Welfare and Recreation, the Jazz & Salsa Festival is offering free busses running to and from Camps Hansen, Schwab, Foster, Buckner and Futenma, as well as from Kadena Air Base.

It’s a beach concert open to everyone, island-wide, so MWR organizers remind visitors to bring their blankets and beach chairs and friends for the evening under the stars. There’s plenty of food and drinks available; no outside food or alcoholic beverages, glass containers, pets or canopies will be permitted at the event.
