Oki Idol Spring Fest raising funds for relief

Date Posted: 2010-04-30

The funís as exciting as American Idol, and itís right here on Okinawa. Oki Idol Spring Fest takes the popular television program a notch higher, offering a free barbeque, a host of activities and entertainment, and karaoke, all in the name of supporting the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society.

Oki Idol Spring Fest takes place Saturday at Camp Fosterís movie theater from noon to 6 p.m. It costs only $25 to enter the karaoke competition, with more than $500 in prizes destined for the finale winner, plus second and third place finishers. All proceeds from the event go to the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society. Individuals can sign up for the competition either from unit Fund Drive Representatives, or at the Camp Foster New Car Sales Office.

Organizers say thereís something for everyone, including a free barbeque, Bounce House, Bunge Ring, Jousting and Sumo Rings and of course, the karaoke. The Karaoke Competition is open to all active duty and civilians, but limited to the first 30
contestants, and includes the $25 entry fee to compete, with all proceeds going
to the Navy Marine Corps Relief Society (NMCRS). To enter, fill out an entry form provided through your NMCRS Fund Drive chain of command, or contact the NMCRS Assistant Area Coordinator, SSgt Garcia at 645-3464.
