Serviceman held for entering private home illegally

An American serviceman was arrested Saturday in Okinawa City on suspicion of breaking into an apartment, according to police. Okinawa City Police say U.S. Army Sergeant James Smith, a 27-year-old stationed at the Torii Station, was arrested for allegedly breaking into the apartment of a 43-year-old local man. Police say Smith was drunk at the time of the incident, and could not explain why he entered the apartment in the first place. The police found and arrested Smith on the street near the apartment. The resident of the apartment had called the police to report the break-in.
