Four high school boys beat classmate to hospital

Date Posted: 2002-11-15

Okinawan educators and parents had hardly recovered from the shock of the beating death of a 19-year-old youth in the hands of three 17-year-olds when it came to light that four 16-year-old high school boys had severely beaten a classmate in Itoman City.

According to police investigation, the four had called the boy’s home and asked him to come out to discuss. When outside on parking lot, they attacked beating for two and half hours. The boy survived but required two weeks’ stay in a hospital. He also lost hearing from both ears. The boy managed to get back home after the four had run away, and his family members took him to a hospital that called the police.

The boy reportedly was first afraid to say anything as his classmates had threatened to beat him up again if he told anyone. Only after he was out of the hospital he began to talk. The police investigation continues.
