Citibank Group completes the Tomarin resurrection

Date Posted: 2010-01-14

Naha City officials are beaming with pride at word the Citibank Group will move its operations to the Tomarin building, a downtown building that only a year ago was mired in debt and had seen its premiere tenant shut its doors.

The building located in Naha Cityís Maejima area is a third sector building with Okinawa Kariyushi Urban Resort Naha as its cornerstone tenant. The hotel pulled out after its operators couldnít reach a rental agreement with Naha City. Thatís been reversed, the hotel is back in operation, and now Naha City is attracting new tenants. The hotel still owes the city •580 million.

Citibank Groupís Japanese call center is moving to the building in February, bringing occupancy to 95%. Officials say Citibank is moving its operation with 200 employees from the Okinawa Free Trade Zone near Naha International Airport.
