Computer viruses causing many new troubles on PC’s

Date Posted: 2010-01-14

Computer viruses continue to proliferate, with Gambler Infection being the latest to infiltrate computers here in Japan.

Specialists say the new virus is spreading worldwide, specializing in stealing personal information from individual computers without the owners ever knowing they’ve been hit. Information management specialists are issuing warnings that the Gambler Webmaster is stealing ID’s and passwords from companies, falsifying information, and inserting the virus. The net result, they say, is that people accessing one company’s web site will unknowingly pick up the virus as it moves across when information is being downloaded.

The Gambler Infection first entered Japan last June, and has been gradually infiltrating more and more unprotected computers. Computer specialists are warning all computer owners to insure they have updated virus software on their computers, and that they check to insure it’s effective against new viruses. Specialists are recommending website management pages “have specially encoded passwords, or use special computer codes, so nobody can access your computer.”
