Hilton Worldwide has opened the DoubleTree by Hilton in Naha, Okinawa – the 10th Hilton Worldwide hotel in Japan and the first in the fast-growing, upscale DoubleTree by Hilton brand portfolio. Kariyushi Wear Day ceremonies set for noon Friday

Okinawa’s own formal summer dress apparel is Kariyushi wear, and tomorrow’s the day the community pays homage to the distinctly local shirts. Ceremonies recognizing Kariyushi Wear Day begin at noon Friday in front of the Okinawa Prefectural Offices, with the Association of Spreading Kariyushi Wear, which was formed in 2007, offering raffle prizes for the first 100 who register and donate ¥100 to save local ecology associations.   Read More!

Forecasters predict 'normal' typhoon season

The 2012 typhoon season officially kicks off June 1st, and thus far there’s nothing on the ocean horizon to suggest any storms to push up that date, as Aere did last May, complete with all the TCCOR advisories and warnings that got the military communities’ attention, but turned out to be nothing more than a rainmaker. Colorful Hydrangea flowers now showing off in Motobu

Thousands of brilliant colored hydrangea flowers are now in full bloom on a 9,900 square meters plot of Motobu land that once was worked as a tangerine farm. The Ajisai-en’s purple flowers are the handiwork of Uto Yohena, a 95-year-old lady who’s been toiling at raising and perfecting the flowers for more than three decades.   Read More!
