Oars go into the water and sails up the masts Sunday morning in northwest Okinawa as the 2nd Sailing Sabani Boats Race launches from 21st Century Beach in Nago. A taste of southern Europe is available on Okinawa through Monday, with 38 specialty shops—23 featuring Italian foods and 15 Italian goods and crafts—at Ryubo Department Store in downtown Naha City. Locating a resort hotel on Okinawa became a lot easier starting this week as a tourism information web site company unveils its new English language site. The company, PAM, currently publishes information and accepts reservations for many facilities within Okinawa Prefecture on its website, but until now, discount services and special lodging plans on the site have all been in Japanese, and targeted to local residents.   Read More!


Shimi brings families, ancestors together

The celebration of ancestral spirits returning to earthly homes is now under way across Okinawa, with thousands of families pausing from everyday lift to honor their ancestors while at the same time praying for their own health and happiness.
