docomo to start mobile phone translation service

Technology is taking a giant leap forward as NTT docomo introduces an automatic two-way speech translation service for its cellular telephones. The new service translates between Japanese and English, and between Korean and English, using an artificial voice accompanying text.   Read More!

Sushi Roll Shin, a take-out sushi restaurant near Chuo Park Avenue in Okinawa City, is celebrating its one-year anniversary riding a wave of popularity. C1 Gourmet Battle about to begin in Chatan

The question to be answered is “which is the #1 local gourmet restaurant in Chatan?” Resolution to the question comes this weekend with a two-day C1 Gourmet Battle pitting dozens of Chatan restaurants in competition with each other for the honor, and with some 2,500 people expected to do the taste testing and casting votes to settle the matter. Frank Gordon centers concert on Amazing Grace

Frank Gordon’s in concert later this month, but it’s anything but an ordinary performance; he’s using the classic Amazing Grace to “awaken our soul with thankfulness and blessing for our future.” The American jazz musician who’s called Okinawa home for more than five years is dedicating his November 23rd concert at Garaman Hall in the Ginoza Village Cultural Center to reflecting on the Great Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami that struck March 11th, and even further, transporting himself back to his youth and his roots in jazz and gospel music in the deep south.   Read More!
