Tanning salon beats sun rays for a safe, even tan

It sounds odd, at first, to think about going to a salon to get a tan when Okinawa has plenty of sunshine, but Tanning Salon Samurai says its system is superior to tanning by natural sunlight, and is safer, too. Okinawa still likes the unpopular 2000-yen note

The Japanese currency note is the only one in circulation bearing the number ‘2’, enough of a rarity to make people distrust it, leaving only Okinawans as champions of the beleaguered money. The Bank of Japan began issuing the ¥2000 bill on July 19, 2000 to commemorate the Group of Eight summit in Okinawa, but this bill didn’t catch on with the general public and remains unpopular.   Read More!


World Uchinanchu Festival planning kicks into high gear

With the 5th World Uchinanchu Festival now only 15 months away, organizers are now coordinating activities with the prefecture governor’s office as well as local tourism organizations and the Okinawa business community.
