Gangster arrested in Friday’s Expressway Minami parking lot murderDate Posted: 2009-10-29 Yoshihiko Yamada was found laying in a pool of blood alongside his mini car last Friday, the engine running, driver’s side door open and headlights on. According to Okinawa Prefecture Police Yamada had been stabbed at least ten times in the stomach, back and extremities by a sharp knife. Police say heavy rainfall masked any sounds of anything strange, making their investigation a bit more complex. The body was discovered by Okinawa Minami I.C. Director Osamu Akamine, who police to report the crime. He said Yamada was still alive, and that there was a cell phone and memo book on the car passenger seat. Police used Yamada’s cell phone to trace last contacts. That led to police receiving a call from Katsu Miyara, who asked “Are you looking for me? What can I do for you?” The 40-year-old gangster, a member of a local criminal Gokuryu-kai syndicate, Miyara, had been exchanging cell phone calls with Yamada, and police believe the two had made an appointment to meet at the Okinawa Minami I.C. parking lot. Police believe Yamada was operating a loan shark business. They believe the business caused someone who had business trouble with him as being the culprit. Police investigators spent Saturday going over the parking area, road drain and rest rooms, but couldn’t find anything. Police don’t say yet if Miyara’s been forthcoming with any admission of meeting with Yamada. They say they’re also looking for a second individual, who they believe helped MIyara escape from the expressway interchange where the crime took place. The police investigation is continuing.
