Asian music festival to attract 400+ artistsDate Posted: 2008-11-27 Okinawa Prefecture officials say they expect a mix of professional, independent and amateur musicians to fill the stages at Okinawa City’s Koza Music Town and Naha City Kokusai Street for the festival’s live concerts and street performances. The multi-cultural makeup of Okinawa, the officials say, make it possible for sharing not only to local citizens, but to the world. Plans call for the festival to be a music and cultural exchange, while promoting Okinawa’s industrial music business and enhancing island tourism. Organizers are trying to adapt industrial and trade fair techniques to the music festival, hoping to promote Okinawa artists to the world. Chinese, Taiwanese and Korean music are all expected to blend with Okinawan music, with some international groups even performing together. Prefecture officials began planning the International Asian Music Festival last June. Discuss this story: Click here to discuss this story on our forums. communityentertainment
