Asian students to join in youth conference

An Asian Youth People’s Conference is set for Okinawa starting August 6th, drawing 745 high school students from various Asian countries.
The students will discuss problems of global warming, environment and technology during the three-week conference being held at Nago City’s Summit Hall and at the Okinawa Convention Center. The conference will be a mix of guest speakers, discussions, swimming and snorkeling.
Opening day speaker will be Alpinist Ken Noguchi, one of the country’s best mountain climbers who’s conquered Mount Everest. Astronaut Touru Mouri, a medical doctor, will address students, and former U.S. Vice President Al Gore, author of the book “In Convenient Truth” will speak. Junko Shio will be the translator for the events, including during a series of lectures at the scientists symposium.
