Gas explosion rocks pub in Urasoe CityDate Posted: 1998-10-18 An explosion blew out windows and the door in a Japanese style pub after closing time in Urasoe City, Saturday. The explosion was followed by a fire which caused little damage to the establishment.
According to an eyewitness who called the police, there were first a loud explosion followed by white smoke billowing out of broken windows. Firemen who arrived at the scene shortly afterwards and doused the fire, reported a strong smell of gas in the building.
The police concluded that the explosion was caused by a gas leak in the restaurant’s kitchen. The exact cause of the explosion is under further investigation.
