Kimono photo service now offered at Kadena Mall StudioDate Posted: 2010-01-07    One Hour Photo has been operating for more than 50 years, and has been offering reliable DP speed printouts, digital printouts, data output from any media devices, creating and copying material to DVDs and CDs, making photo albums, calendars and greeting cards. Now, Kadena Mall Studio owner Mr. Sakihama has branched out into new services to serve the military community. Commemorative photographs of service members and their families wearing traditional kimonos can, he thought, be a valuable and personalized souvenir. He knew there were a few studios around Okinawa doing kimono photos, but Sakihama thought he could do it better, so he opened the studio right on Kadena. Having a kimono photo taken requires about an hour, including preparation and makeup time. He’s got kimonos for both boys and girls, as well as adults. Reservations for photos are at 959-0417. Kadena Mall Studio offers discounts if you bring your own kimonos or other costumes. Through January 31st, the Studio’s New Year’s Special is 50% off for photos taken in your own kimono or costume. When ordering photo prints, there’s a 20% discount for 100 copies of 4 x 6” photos, 30% for 200 pictures or 40% off on an order of 300 or more photographs. Sakihama is always looking for ways to make business more pleasant for customers. He’s assembled a knowledgeable female staff to assist with everything from using the Kodak digital auto printout machine to working in the photo studio with kids. He says people react better in the unfamiliar environment when working with his ladies rather than men, and his girls love kids and have ways of getting them to break out those natural smiles.
