Mysterious drone lands on Taketomi coast

Residents on Taketomi Island in the Yaeyama Archipelago discovered the wreckage of a 5 to 6-meter-long orange and white drone on Sep. 8th on the island’s northern coast. The drone had apparently landed on the reef, although no one had seen it coming down.
Residents reported the find to the 11th Regional Coast Guard Headquarters, which contacted the prefectural police, fire department, and Okinawa Defense Bureau, but none could tell right away what the mysterious drone was or to whom it belonged to.
Officials at the Defense Bureau panned to inquire with the US military, whether it’s one of their aerial vehicles.
However, U.S. military officials denied any knowledge of the drone and said that it is not a U.S. military unmanned drone.
