Lance Corporal arrested on suspicion of drunk driving
Naha Police arrested a 22-year-old U.S. Marine Lance Corporal on suspicion of drunk driving Sunday morning.
According to Naha Police, a police patrol noticed a car driving erratically on Highway 58 in Ameku, Naha City. When they stopped the car, they noticed a strong smell of alcohol from the driver, a Marine lance corporal stationed on Camp Foster.
The driver was administered a breathalyzer test that showed he had twice the legal limit of alcohol in his breath and he was arrested on the spot.
The suspect reportedly admitted having been drinking previous night, but explained, “I thought I had sobered up by now.”
