Japan’s only life-size Hulkbuster on exhibit at Stock Room Gallery
Kentaro Teruya, a toy collector and owner of XLARGE®/X-girl Okinawa branch store, is exhibiting his toy collection “Liberty Force” at Stock Room Gallery Koza on Chuo Park Avenue in Okinawa City. The exhibition consists of toys and figurines of American comic characters and Star Wars that Teruya collected over the years on his trips to New York, Texas and Shanghai. There are about 500 figurines in the exhibition.
A life-size Hulkbuster figure that is shown in Okinawa for the first time dominates the exhibition. It’s three meters tall and the weighs 660kg. Hulkbuster is a character from the movie “Avengers” and the only life-size Hulkbuster figure in Japan.
Teruya is the owner of fashion brand XLARGE/X-girl Okinawa store and has a business relationship with Disney Japan that owns the figure and lent it specifically for this exhibition.
Also on display, are Japanese artist Takashi Murakami’s works and toy collection consisting of 80 sets of figurines.
Teruya says, “I wanted to stimulate Okinawan artists by showing artworks created by artists active on the front lines of creativity in the world.
The exhibition is open 1 to 8 p.m. through Jan 14th (Monday). The admission is free.
