The group is well known in the European and US markets, and the parties expect the new contract is to give a significant boost to the promotion of Okinawa.

The Expedia group has reportedly 675 million users worldwide. Expedia will conduct a special campaign featuring Okinawa from January through March 2019.

The data from Expedia shows that tourists from Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan know Okinawa remarkably well. Also, visitors from Singapore, USA and Europe are increasing. Specially, the number of visitors from Spain increased 280%. The number of visitors from France is 60% up and Australia 50% up.

The campaign emphasizes the attractiveness of Okinawa’s nature and culture and promotes development of human resources at the University of the Ryukyus.
