Renovated Miyako Hotel to open as Novotel Okinawa Naha in August
Okinawa Miyako Hotel in Matsugawa, Naha, closed on Jan. 22, On January 31, an “anzen-kigan-sai” ceremony was performed to pray for the safety of the renovation work on the building that will be transformed into a brand-name Novotel Hotel.
After the thorough renovation project that includes making the building earthquake-resistant, the hotel will restart as Novotel Okinawa Naha. The new Novotel will be managed by the Accor Hotels chain.
Accor Hotels is based in France and is known as the owner of the Raffles Singapore. The Novotel brand consists of 400 high-class hotels throughout the world. Okinawa will be the only prefecture in Japan to have a Novotel Hotel.
Okinawa Miyako Hotel opened for business in 1974 under he management of Kintetsu Miyako Hotels. The US-based Morgan Stanley group owns the building and management rights.
The Novotel Okinawa Hotel has 15 floors above ground and one underground. After the renovation, it will have 328 guest rooms, 21 more than Okinawa Miyako Hotel.
