Daigo Higa retains his WBC title against Moises Fuentes
WBC flyweight boxing champion Daigo Higa knocked out Moises Fuentes of Mexico in the first round at a title match held at Onoyama Budokan Hall on Sunday to retain his World Boxing Council’s flyweight title.
It was the 15th consecutive victory in his career for Higa who declared that hw would win the match by KO prior to the fight. His streak of 15 wins tied the Japanese record.
Tickets to the match sold out in only 10 minutes even though the number of tickets was increased to 3,000 from the original 2,700 seats. The match was broadcast live on OTV/Fuji channel 8.
Higa’s professional titles include the Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) flyweight championship, and he is currently the WBC flyweight champion. He hails from Urasoe City, and is 22 years old, born on Aug. 9, 1995. He represents Shirai Gushiken Sports Gym.
