Three-month forecast promises colder than average February

According to the three-month forecast by the Okinawa Meteorological Observatory from February through April, the average temperature is expected to be an average or a little colder.

The observatory predicts the weather to be colder than average in February because the atmospheric pressure chart pattern stays typical to winter. Especially, on the days from the end of January to beginning of February are expected to be 1.5 degrees or more below the average.

La Nina phenomenon, in which the ocean surface temperature decreases in the eastern Pacific Ocean, continues, and creating inflows of cold air from the Eurasian continent.

The average temperature at that time in Naha City is between 16.6 and 17.6 degrees centigrade, but the observatory expects colder weather this year.
