Urasoe judged 9th most livable city in Japan

Shin Koumin Rentai Saizensen”, a website managed by Nikkei Business Publications, Inc., containing information on how to approach regional vitalization throughout Japan, announced Wednesday “the ranking of the most liveable cities in Japan, 2017”.

The survey was conducted among office workers in each city. Urasoe City in Okinawa was ranked in the 9th place. Three cities, Moriya in Ibaraki Prefecture, Musashino in Tokyo, and Onojoushi in Fukuoka Prefecture shared the first place.

The survey was conducted on the website during July and August, and received 24,389 replies. The survey consisted of 32 questions regarding subjects like local residential areas, infrastructure construction in places one has lived for the last 5 years, and child care environment.

Urasoe City was in the 2nd place in two categories – “there are many pediatricians, obstetricians and gynecologists” and “the system of nighttime medical service and emergency medical service is well in place.” It placed fourth for “there are many hospitals and clinics”.

Urasoe was also in the 6th place for “good municipal services for childcare support”.
