Typhoon Saola to close on Daito Islands Friday

According to Okinawa Meteorological Observatory, the 2nd tropical cyclone of the season named Saola developed into a typhoon near Mariana Islands about 3 p.m. on Tuesday. The typhoon is gaining strength, as it heads northwest, and is expected to be close to Daito Islands by Friday.
As of 6 p.m. Tuesday, the central atmospheric pressure of the typhoon was 994 hPa. It had maximum wind speed of 20 m/s, gusting 30 m/s. The typhoon was proceeding at the speed of 35 kilometers per hour.
At the coasts of Okinawa Island, there is a strong swell, and the weather is expected to turn stormy on Thursday.
