High school baseball tournament qualifier match schedule drawn

The draw for the Okinawa qualifier tournament for the 99th Japan Annual National High School Baseball Tournament at Koshien Stadium in Hyogo Prefecture was held at Kitanakagusuku Central Community Center Tuesday.

The draw decided the qualifier matches for all 63 teams from Okinawa’s high schools. The matches start on June 17 on four baseball stadiums within the prefecture, including Okinawa Cellular Stadium Naha as the main venue. The championship game will take place on July 16.

Nanbu Shogyo High School and Nanbu Nourin High School have a combined team, as they don’t have enough players. Okinawa Catholic High School that established a baseball team this spring is taking part in the tournament for the first time. The Okinawa champion team will participate in the national tournament that starts Aug. 7th at Hanshin Koshien Stadium.

Okinawa Shogaku team, the champion at the Okinawa Tournament this spring, plays from the second round in a game pitting the team against the winner of the match between Ginowan and Naha High Schools.
