Work to connect Naha Airport terminals to begin
A groundbreaking ceremony was held Wednesday at the Naha Airport Terminal Building to mark the start of constructing an extension connecting domestic and international terminal buildings.
The connecting building will be a 5-story facility with 39,000 square meters of total floor space. The construction is scheduled to be complete in December 2018.
The aim of consolidating the domestic and international terminals into one is to expand the number of boarding bridges, and alleviate the congestion expected after the second runway is completed in 2019 and the increase of LCC flights.
After the construction is complete, passengers will be able to walk kindoors between the domestic and international terminals.
