Mother arrested on suspicion of killing her baby daughter

Ginowan Police arrested a 29-year-old woman Wednesday on suspicion of assaulting her 2-month-old daughter, causing an injury resulting in the baby’s death.

According to investigators, Minami Arakaki is suspected of assaulting her daughter in November 2015. The alleged attack resulted in the swelling of the infant’s brain that an autopsy determined to have been the cause of her death. The baby was also found to have broken bones.

Arakaki reportedly admits to the charges, saying, “I did it because of stress from taking care of my sick husband and the childcare.”

Police continues investigating the details of the incident in order to determine whether the case is daily abuse or manslaughter.
