Tornadoes observed off Ishigaki
Staff at the Ishigaki Metrological Agency observed a tornado forming in the sky about 10km off Ishigaki Island around 16:50 on July 30.
Officials at the observatory say the twister was almost static staying at the same spot. It disappeared about five minutes later.
Shortly afterwards a second tornado appeared at the same spot, and then disappeared after one minute. Neither of the twisters seemed to touch the ground or the sea, and no damage was reported.
The metrological agency declared a tornado alert on Ishigaki from 16:55 through 19:10.
