Ryukyu Shimpo newspaper is sponsoring a unique temporary amusement park on the third floor of the Makeman Home Center main store on Highway 58 in Gusukuma, Urasoe, for children to enjoy during their school summer break.

The amusement park is unique because all playthings are entirely made of cardboard, including a slide, train ride, house, and bridge among others. The theme of the playground this year is the sea, and there are figures of deep-sea animals decorating the place, all made of cardboard, of course.

A big maze made of cardboard is square and about 10 by 10 meters in size with two floors. A large squid crowns the top of the maze.

Then there’s a slide made in a shape of a ship, in which children can play inside and climb up and down its decks and masts.

A train running on tracks for 10 children to ride at one time is also made of cardboard.
